Postdoc in theoretical nuclear physics. First time stamping for J1 -> H1B switch. Got a white slip (which doesn't mention any 221g) but informs quite promptly that it will take "ATLEAST 8 weeks". Submitted resume, research details, international travel etc., to advanceprocessing@state and got back an auto-generated acknowledgement email immediately. 1) Interview date: 3rd July, 2019 2) Update to AP: 3rd July, 2019 3) Submitted docs: 4th July, 2019 4) No updates from 4th July to 20th August 5) Second update: 21st August, still AP 6) Email to submit passport at Chennai VAC, 21st August 7) waiting for another 7 days. Seriously, why not? 8) 2nd Sept: Received passport without stamp, and a tiny yellow slip asking to submit new passport (looks decent, may be few pages?whatever) 9) Applied for renewal of passport--- took 3 days with post-police verification, and got passport on 6th Sept 10) 9th Sept: Submitted new and old passport at Delhi VAC 11) 11th Sept: Issued
