Visa Stamping from Canada/ Mexico

I had my successful visa interview in calgary this morning. processing wait times were showing as 1 day earlier today but its showing as 5 business days now. No major questions asked.

How long have you been with employer
When did you get your first H1? Month and year
Did your employer file for your Immigration status? I have asked if he wants to see my approved I 140, he said yes and glanced at it and gave it back.
Cancelled my old visa
And gave news of Visa approval.

I filled out DS160 for Ottawa US Embassy and booked interview slot on October 13th and I was looking for any available dates(Aug/Sept) to reschedule but didn't find anything. I found one at Vancouver Center and rescheduled my appointment. Now my question is, DS160 being filled out for Ottawa,

1. Do I need to fill out a new DS160 for Vancouver?
2. At Embassy if I present the new DS160 at security check will they able to make the changes?

Please advise me how to move forward. Appreciate your help.

Hi I had an interview this morning in Calgary and i got a yellow slip 221g and i got my passport back. The VO said it might take 1-2 months sometimes longer or shorter. I am planning to leave to India and When i get an approval, can i take my passport back to the consulate in India or do i have to fly to Canada again? I have my masters in NON IT background and working in IT now. That is the reason for 221(g). Anyone with similar situation or knew any one like this and also please let me know if i can go to consulate in India or Can i change the shipping address to my relatives house in Canada and have them courier it to India.

This forum was very helpful in preparing for my stamping, and its my time to give back.

My appointment was at 7:15 and reached the consulate by 7:00. There were about 10-15 attendees and at 7:15, they called out to form a line, who ever has a 7:15 appointment. I was second in line and after initial security check out, they let us in to a floor where photo was scanned and then finger printing was done. You may have to wait here for 5-15 min until someone take you to elevators to go to 20th floor. No documents were asked except for passport and I-797. VO asked, what was my salary, title, degree specialization, and said my visa was approved. I was out of consulate by 8:00 am.

July 18th afternoon: Status updated that my application is in administrative processing

July 19th: Status updated that my application is in final stages of processing and received an email from consulate that my passport was released to Canada Post with tracking number in the morning. Signed up for email alerts from Canada Post. BY afternoon, my DS-160 status was updated with tracking number.

July 20th: At 8:45 am, got an email from Canada Post that passport is ready for pickup. Picked up the passport at 11:00 am (at 595 Burrard street)

My return flight was on 21st evening, but as I got the passport on 20th, went to airport by 12:15 pm. United changed my flight to 1:50 pm direct flight for free, as there were weather related issues in Chicago. Security and Immigration was done ~45 minutes. Immigration office was also very cool, just asked which technology I work on. My H1B was expiring in 3 months, so he pointed out the same. Informed him that, I will be applying extension in September once I am back from India trip.

Even though, no documents were asked in my case, I would suggest, carry each and every document that you have. It will make you more confident.

I stayed in Empire Landmark hotel for first 3 days and Consulate is ~15 min walk from there. Spicy 6 on Robson St is a good Indian restaurant. Ginger Indian Cuisine is also pretty good restaurant, if you stay in Richmond.

Overall, VO officer isn't asking many questions and no documents all. Best of luck to future attendees.

I booked the date for H1B stamping in Toronto Canada on 10th July'17 but the interview date i received was 7th Nov'17. I am been monitoring and there are no earlier dates being available. Is there any way to get an earlier date in August or September?

my visa application (h1b) got approved this morning in canada but i just realized that the visa officer retained my I-797 original copy with my passport.

i don't remember my i-797 original got retained in my previous interviews (not in canada tho). wondering if it's normal? anyone else has similar experience? would they give i-797 back to me with my passport?
