Filed for my parents— queens, ny
Hi! I filed for my parents recently, pd nov 2018. I was wondering if anyone has information on the timeline if it is different from applicants that are marriage-based or no difference at all. I would also appreciate if someone in the same situation as I am can share their timeline to give me a more accurate idea of how long the process will take. Thank you!

Side note: its crazy to see nyc applicants are waiting almost 2 years for gc. When i applied in 2014, it only took 5 months from start to finish. It really is a different time.

Green Card Interview Experience--Tampa
Hello all,

I had my i485--adjustment of status interview today through marriage. My RD was October 3 2018.

Our interview was scheduled at 12.45 pm and we were called in at 1.45 pm. Tampa office was quite busy.

The officer was very pleasant and thorough. We had our lawyer present with us and I recommend that you take your lawyer with you if you have one.

The process was the same--oath, yes no questions and relationships related questions.

The following questions were asked to me:

What is his DOB?

Where was he born?

His parents' name?

The same questions were asked to my husband in a random order

Next set of questions were as follows:

Did you have a traditional wedding?

How are we supporting ourselves financially?

Has my husband met my parents?

She confirmed my profession

She then asked for supporting evidence. We gave our joint lease, joint tax returns, flght bookings of trips taken together and photo album with 200 photos.

She looked at all the photos.

She didn't look at any of the original documents except passport.

We then started talking about hiking and backpacking as a lot of our trips were based around hiking.

She then said that everything looks good and she is going to approve it. I should receive the card in 2-3 weeks. It will be a conditional green card and after 2 years I will have to apply again to remove conditions. She congratulated me, my husband and our lawyer.

She ended with "have fun with all the hiking"

Neither my husband and I were nervous. Overall, it was pretty smooth. I love the Tampa office.

I am glad it is over and I hope you all get it soon.

I will update when I receive the card.

Good luck!

Renewal
Hey guys, I’m going to file my renewal for EAD, and first I asked a lawyer how much was for it, and she charged me the same amount I paid on my first application, then I was reading o uscis website and says that if I’ve done this application and paid the fees before I just need to send the form properly filed and 797c with my i485 and don’t need to pay again. Does anyone knows?? Anyone to help a brother out. I appreciate

Interview Scheduled (Dallas)
Hi guys! PD is February 2018. Online says interview has been scheduled so waiting for the notice in the mail.

My husband and I:
We have lease
Cable
Internet
Phone bill
 Car Insurance
Pictures
Joint account

Other things like life insurance
Gym membership was submitted from the beginning.
Does this seem like enough!

We’ve been married almost two years now. Married 1 year before we filed.

My question is when taking documents to the interview. Should I take the most recent month, OR last three months!

Sorry I’m all over the place. Thanks in advance!

Interview
Just had my interview today at Federal plaza, we got there just before 9 went trough security and wait for my interview at 9:30, we didn’t get call till almost 11. Our officer was Mr. Eng he was very serious and kinda rough but very professional, took my picture and did the oath and asked for joint docs , w2’s, tax return, birth certificate, passport, marriage certificate and a couple of pictures, when I gave a picture of us with our kids he asked who they were and I said our kids, that’s when he totally relaxed and mentioned that us having kids cut the interview really short. He asked basic question , like my name my husband name, when did we get married, name of our kids, where are my husband’s kids from previously marriage and that’s it. Then asked the same to my husband and then some of the yes and no question. He didn’t really say that we were approved. While looking for something in his computer he started to talk about other cases he had and then handle me a paper with the 120 days but said because we have kids that time as well it will cut cut short and should be getting answer in 30 days or less and said he needed to do check the background check and that was it. It took about 20 minutes. Good luck to everybody!
