2 Weeks after Interview for Green Card

We are same sex couple in Chicago. We been together 6 years. We got married in April 2014 and applied for AOS in May 2014. We had our interview on Dec 11th 2014. Interview was very short. Maybe 7 min total. She asked us couple questions. How long we are together and how we met. She looked at some pictures and couple bills. She said we are approved and we should get a GC within 2 weeks. Right?! Well its two months after interview and we didn't hear anything back from USCIS. I went to infopass in January 2015 and they said that they pretty backlogged and our case is awaiting a decision. Damn. They are super slow. It's almost 9 months since we applied.

So first we talked to our info pass lady and she told us that our case is not approved yet since our interview in December 2014 and we should come back in 30 days. We asked to speak to a supervisor. The supervisor told us that she doesn't know why our case is not officially approved and she will talk to the IO that interviewed us. With a struck of luck our IO that interviewed us stopped by. She said that she is so sorry and she was overwhelmed with cases. She said that she remembers our interview and we are approved. She said she will pull out our case out of the pile and will work on it. Hopefully we will hear something soon. Fingers crossed. We filed AOS in may 2014 and had interview in December. It is 3 months since that. So if u were told that you are approved and didn't hear something in awhile that means that your file is sitting somwhere on a desk and it is just a matter of luck. It seems like they don't care how long we wait.*

Good luck for you ! How can I done a info pass? My lawyer say he sent a letter for uscis asking for a update on my case. I dont know if a can do something...

Congratulations Pkie! We are same sex in Chicago too. We got married in June. We interviewed on Mar 3rd. The interview went really well and our attorny said we were going to get the GC for sure. But we still haven't heard anything from USCIS... Hope it goes well and won't take too long.

All you need is patient. Just wait patiently and at the right time things will fix itself...
My time took long but I was not in a hurry for anything. Patience is a virtue. My interview took less than 20 min and the IO was a saint in handling my case. I was so happy and great fun for being nice to us. But mind you don't take too much even though when they are nice and concentrate on what's next because he might interview you without having any specific attention. Be brief in answering questions don't tell stories. Dress very nice and presentable as going for a job interview. Look responsible as a family no jeans and funny wears. Look your best but nice and simple. Cheer up. And leave the rest to your Devine creator. Call if you don't understand why too long?

I read your name so I guess you are vietnamese. I am a vietnamese too and I am waiting for my interview 23rd April 2015. Ở am so much worry cause I come here by F1 visa and after 2 months I got married and stopped my study. My husband didn't want me live so far away from him. We took 6 hours from my school to our house. I wonder how can I apply for work permit cause I am a F1 visa and I cannot find a way to fill the form. We only have our bank account together. I didn't have SSN so I cannot join in insurance or any other things else. Is it effect on our interview a lot? Please help cause I am so stressful while time is running out.
