I am marriage-based AOS (c9) -filed all forms concurrently... reading this thread everyones' applications seem to have some kind of update- even people already scheduled for interview but mine just doesn't seem to be moving. My receipt number begin with MSC - so mine is at the national benefits center

Interview done!

We had our interview today, interview was scheduled at 1, we arrived around 1220 and waited until 1:15 to be called in by the officer , interview lasted about 45-50 mins, it was not hard or dry, it was mostly a conversation.
-she asked for the I-693, I handed it to her, she opened the envelope and reviewed the form and vaccination records.
-First i was asked questions from I-485, names, birth dates, address history, job history, yes or no questions from I-485.
-we then moved on to her asking questions to my husband about I-130, same thing as before, names, birth dates, address history, etc
-we showed her tax returns of 2017 which we hadnt filled with application because my husband filled until April. She looked at them and take notes but didnt keep them
-she then started talking to us about how we met, where we traveled to see each other, when we decided to get married, when we met each others parents, if we had a small or big wedding, where we had it, who attended.

we had prepared a lot of additional evidence of our relationship, you can see the details in the link below, she looked at it and took notes but gave it back to us. We chatted for a little longer and she said she was recommending us for approval and we should receive an approval and GC in the mail within the next month, she printed a page that says we have been recommended for approval and has the date and her name. She also mentioned the EAD is taking longer and it would probably come after the GC but I wont need it by then.

I think this was a positive result, and now we will wait to get the official approval and/or GC in the mail.

below is my timeline for reference:

Concurrent filing I-485,130,765 marriage base USC
Field office: Cleveland
Docs sent to Chicago Lockbox
PD: 02/07
recipt dates: 02/14
checks cashed: 02/16
biometrics done: 03/05
received courtesy letter for I-693: 03/16

had no status updates on either accounts, received an email on 04/21 saying action was taken so I loged in to find out my 485 was marked as " Us Postal service could not deliver a notice we sent"
we sent a service request for it to be sent again.
04/23 I called to a level 2 officer to see if they could tell me what had been sent on the mail. He said it is an interview appointment for May 11th.
Official letter for appointment received on 05/01
Interview done 5/11

I filed i-130 in March 2016 and have a PD of 05/2016 -- Not sure if my PD will be that one still, i am hoping it will because i need my EAD ASAP.
I am married to a USC, 5 year now and we have 2 kids also USC - one born abroad and one here. I am on F1-OPT, but will expire in July. I am filing without a lawyer, we did the same with i-130 and we didn't have issues so hoping for that too.
Here is my timeline:
02/23 --> Mailed packaged
02/26 --> Package received
03/02--> My debit card was charged ( hope this means i'll get case numbers soon!)
Filing from: Seattle,WA
I'll post updates as they come.
I am also from Seattle. My PD is 2/21. Our cases are very close, except I filled I-130 with I-485 and I-765 all together. You filled separately. We are both fill to the Seattle office, so I think we should have similar interview dates. Please let me know if you hear anything. I will also update you on my progress. Thanks.

Right?! Should totally start a petition ! I mean don't get me wrong, giving out the EAD first is great, atleast petitioners have something to do while waiting for the interview, but i mean c'mon, like with all that effort into processing the EAD, allocate all that effort into the i-485 and speed up the process ! Like i'd rather wait for months and go straight to the interview, instead of waiting for months only to get the EAD and then wait a couple more months for the interview. Like what is the hold up?! Geez.

You should ! I mean Someone has to do it.

LOL it would've thrown me off too, I'd probably flip out. But oh well. I guess it honestly depends on your luck.

No, I haven't. Should I call them right away and just ask about my application's status, or should I wait a little longer? I mean I don't want them to be like "Listen missy, you're only on day 84, wait the f **** out" LOL

Yeah, I signed up for both dhs.gov and the egov (no updates, still says the same thing since my PD) and I've the case tracker app on my phone (again, no update). I tried the automated line yesterday and it said the same thing as the case tracker app.
So I guess I have zero luck on this.

Really? Ugh I wish I got the 'validation error' update to be honest. It's like a sign of progress, it's better than my current stand still.

Yay for you ! You've progress ! Did you get any mail regarding the interview? When's your PD?

Yes, I front-loaded everything when we applied, I even gave an album of pictures just for the heck of it. I mean I don't see why not in giving every single piece of evidence I had. I just didn't wanna wait till the interview to show pictures and stuff. Oh, and I front loaded just to avoid the RFE. I did the application all by myself too, without the help of a lawyer.

Yep, first marriage for the both of us.

Thanks, you too !
You're too funny. They're not going to tell you that. Ha. Have you called and spoken to someone? Checked the automated line with your receipts? People who front-loaded are seeing their cases just glide through the system. Good work! It's on the instructions I-130 anyway. Page 3/12. Yet, attorneys tell clients otherwise and to just bring it all the interview.

Cpthk agrees too! LOL you only need 3 people to officially start a movement. I am kindda kidding but sort of not. I am seeing people reporting this "system glitch" from a lot of states; except Minnesota.

Any updates on your end?

The only reason people apply for EAD is purely because USCIS is way too slow on the I-485. The result is double the burden at USCIS due to the EAD applications.
Did you say no EAD/AP? *Clears throat* Someone call Lynn77 because that makes 3 of us. LOL you only need 3 people to start a movement. I am kidding but sort of not kidding.
I have thought about it for a while. The EAD/AP came about because the system got congested to a level that could be managed by giving people EAD/AP while everything else processes.
Well, it's truly a double whammy because it's a 2:1 ratio. For every I-485 you process, you have to process two documents that are temporary. You're further cluttering the system.

All I can say is that Congress can't fix it, unless they know about it.

I totally get it. I am in favor of the "no EAD/AP - straight to GC interviews" movement. Well, there's no movement but I figure that if I say it often enough, others might think about it and agree with the concept of eliminating the EAD for marriage based AOS and reallocating that human power onto pre-adjudicating the application files for those Field Offices.
I almost want to start sending letters to Senators.

Look at the data for my field office.
07/01/16 - 09/30/16
Received: 929
Approved: 97
Denied: 44
Pending: 3,130

What are they even doing at that office? I am usually all zen. There are all these receipts around me getting interviews, and the unspeakable happened - one got "New card is being produced" and "I-130 approved". I get it. It's probably a petition for a parent. My mother had her interview waived. Got her 10 year green card in the mail. It threw me off for a moment, though.

Have you tried calling and talking to a Level 2 officer? They can see more. If you've followed other timelines. User Kaylip wasn't able to access the I-485 online or on the automated phone line. Then called USCIS and was told by two Level 2 Officers an interview had already been scheduled and that the notice had been mailed out.

I also learned this weekend that the automated line may tell you a different status for your I-485. Mine says "Status for this receipt number cannot be found at this time in this automated system. Please check your receipt number to see if it is correct"

On the case tracker app, my I-485 does not have a validation error. It does show "Case is ready to be scheduled for an interview". I also checked other receipts on the automated line, that do show "validation error" and got the same "Status for this receipt number cannot be found at this time in this automated system. Please check your receipt number to see if it is correct".

I would suggest checking the automated line - just to see if you get anything different. Are you signed up on egov and dhs.gov?

Question, did you front-load your evidence? First marriage for both parties?

All the best.
