I read in another thread that someone called USCIS about the issue, and they customer service rep told her that Biometrics was received, but it can take many days to update the online status. Not sure about it. Most people seem to have status updated quite quickly.

mine was done on 4/02 but took them 13 days to update status online.

Personal experience. As a student, my other international student friends and myself had to use our I-20s and F1 Visa to show that we maintained a lawful residence in the country. Once, I graduated and transferred over to OPT, I could not use my NOA (receipts) as a means to show lawful residence. Therefore, I gathered that the receipts only show that its holder is being processed for said lawful residence. In our friends case, he will have to wait until his EAD is in to show that he still has lawful residence in the USA. UPDATE: You can renew your license: https://www.dps.texas.gov/DriverLice...ulPresence.pdf Just show you I-797 for pending I-485. I am sorry- I will verify with my DMV soon. Good luck.

I have successfully acquired a driving test 'date' after doing the written test. So, if you have your i-797 for i-485 that contains an alien number, the Texas DMV will let you obtain a DL for one year after you have gone through the DHS SAVE verification process. I needed to wait 4 working days (they told me it could be upto 10) for the second level verification to be complete.

Thank you for verifying. I'm going to my local office to see if they will give me one. Kinda nervous as every review of that place says they're incompetent and simply don't care. I'm not sure if they ever even heard of something like this lol. I live in a very anti immigrant part of town.

I went to the DPS today and I got told they will need 2nd verification for DL which I expected. Took my picture and said to come back for the test after I get the confirmation in my mailbox. Having a 1 year liscence is gonna be so much better than having to use my passport everywhere. I brought all my receipts with my A number, passport, Visa, 2 bills in my name, ss card and lease to show proof of address. I brought my most recent I94 but they just printed out a new one.
