I am also trying to file by my own. have following questions. Appreciate your help with this.
i-485 questions :

1. For H4 dependent( derivative applicant) also , can we choose option 62.d for question on exempt from i-864?

2. For Part 2 - What is the application type that has to be chosen for H4 dependent

I-944 question:
1. For part 4 - do you have an approved form i-140, do I need to choose No for H4 dependent? Won't they be counted under same i-140 of principle applicant.

2. Also, we have a child of 6 years old who goes to school( not in pandemic though)..should we check primary care giver yes for H4 dependent?

I-765 question:

H4 had a work permit under category c26 but didn't work . Now i am applying under c9 - do I need to check as initial application or renewal ? Do I need to attach i-765 approval notice received already.

yes (I'm assuming you are immigrating in an employment-based category)

I am returning late back to the post. Looks like all your questions were answered by newacct . Keep using this thread for your other questions and I will respond to my knowledge. newacct has been super helpful in working through my questions.

Myself, I am in EB3, I40 approved. No change to employer.

So far no issues. I was reading a lot of material and getting help from forums. Documentation preparation takes time and it pertains to individual to individual scenario. I-944 was the most time consuming for me. Post specific questions where you need help.

Employment Based EB2 category with date of filing current. Planning to Self File. My case is straight forward. Need help with some prelim questions. TIA

1. Apart from I485 (AoS), I765 (EAD) and I131 (AP), I believe a to d are the ones I need to submit. Not sure if d and e are needed.
a. Supplement J for 485
b. I693 - Medical
c. I864 - Adequate Financial Support
d. I944 - Self Sufficiency
e. Any other forms

2. What is the correct filing fee?

I am checking some sites that say there is no additional cost apart from 485 ($1,140 application fee + $85 for biometrics) if I765 and I131 are accompanying the application.

But on the filing fee site https://www.uscis.gov/feecalculator, if I select all 3 forms, it comes to $1,720. Breakdown - Biometrics ($170), I485 ($1,140), I131 ($0), I765 ($410)
- Biometrics is doubled.

3. Do I actually need an employer letter OR recent pay stubs should work?

newacct is Supplement J a must? no change in employer or role. Filing for the same position as my I-140. I am including employment verification letter and pay stubs.

One follow up question, we are treating dependent also as that of principal applicant in I-485 form -for application type and exempting from i-864 form. Each person's likeliness of becoming a public charge is determined separately. For the education and skills part, they decided that having an approved I-140 was a sufficient positive indication of education and skills. But having a spouse with an approved I-140 shouldn't mean anything about the person's education and skills. So logically, only the I-944 filer's own approved I-140 should count.

Thanks newacct.. from couple of my friends who are filing thru attorney I heard that they are checking yes for the question of having approved i-140 availability in i-944 for derivative applicants and principal and at the same time they are giving education and occupation skills as well.. not sure if it's exactly correct but will serve the purpose . Isn't it.
