  • Great News!!!

Both the I-485 and I-130 were approved August 18th according to the USCIS website. The status has not changed for the I-765 and I-131. I did not go to interview - submitted my medicals along with the application. I am waiting for the notification letter and hopefully the GC shortly there after. congrats!! That was quick 5 months!

Just wondering how was previous biometric applied for parents. Did your parent took any biometrics earlier?

also what state are you from?

      Thanks!

Thanks - I was surprised how fast they approved both the applications given the current pace of approvals. The biometrics were from a previous AOS adjustment from 2016. The Field office is San Antonio, TX - I am not certain if they adjudicated the application. Will find out when I get NOA in the mail.

            • Hello! I've just joined this forum, but have been following this thread since submitting in March 2021.

Immediate relative AOS (J-1 married US citizen)
              PD: 03/26/21
              FO: San Antonio
              Package: I-130/130A, I-485, I-131, I-765, I-864EZ (filing concurrently)
              3/24/21: Mailed packet
              3/26/21: Delivered to Chicago Lockbox
4/21/21: Credit card charged; received receipt numbers via SMS; case status on portal updated to "Case was received 03/26/21. Routed to NBC (MSC)".
4/28/21: Received I-797c NOAs in mail
6/03/21: Received I-693 deficiency notice in mail (bring medical to interview)
7/22/21: Ask Emma live chat re: biometrics appointment. "Your case has been processing for xxxx. Estimated processing time is 9.5 - 19.5 months". [NB: This time frame is for San Antonio service center]
8/24/21: Ask Emma live chat re: biometrics appointment. "There hasn't been any updates from the service center. Your case is still within the normal processing time. If your case is not processed during the processing times listed, please go to our website and file an electronic inquiry to notify USCIS that your case is outside normal processing time."

Comparative to other March filers, some are faster than others, but it doesn't mean there is a problem with those that take longer. I just need to be more patient The process takes time, but 9.5 - 19.5 months to get a GC is pretty good!

              FYI:
              Check processing times: https://egov.uscis.gov/processing-times/

4/21/21: Credit card charged; received receipt numbers via SMS.
4/28/21: Received I-797c NOAs in mail
6/03/21: Received I-693 deficiency notice in mail
9/25/21: Received biometrics appointment notice for 10/19/21
10/19/21: Biometrics taken and applied to case
10/27/21: Case is ready to be scheduled for an interview
              11/1/21: I-131 and I-765 approved
11/4/11: New I-765 and I-131 combo card mailed
11/6/11: Received card and approval notices for I-131 and I-765

Did you receive the biometric appointment? That is needed before approval. You are 60 days past your RFE response. You should call USCIS and find out. Usually they entertain after 60 days. Or you can also take an info pass appointment at local uscis office.

i filed on May 11 and responded to RFE on July 14th and still waiting for biometric. What a painful wait.

Hi - Congratulations for approval! Prior to approval, did you see a message on USCIS case status 'waiting to schedule interview or somthing similar' on your parent's case. I am applying for GC for my parent. We already had biometrics done 6 weeks ago. I-485 Status says 'Your case is ready and waiting to schedule interview'. I was wondering if interview is common on AOS for parents or not.

Anyone else that had biometrics had similar status on I-485?

I-130 approval notice received on 5/10/21.

I have seen interviews being skipped when applying GC for parents. Interviews are mostly being held for marriage based petitions only.

When was the biometrics done for your parents? My mother's biometrics was done a fortnight ago. From the past posts, I inferred that it takes 3-4 months after biometrics to get GC approved.

Kendall, FL. I read other posts on Reddit about people that were assigned to the same USCIS office and their cases moved quickly as well.
