Indian citizen marrying US citizen

I am an Indian citizen on H1B which expires Deb 26th 2015. I am engaged to a US citizen and are planning to get married this year. We are planning to get a court marriage in the US on July 2nd 2014 and then have a big social wedding in India in December 2014. The idea is to get my green card processing started in July itself. Do you see any challenges with the timeline of events? Once I get legally registered in the US in July and immediately start my GC processing – will I be able to leave the country to travel?

As long as you are legally married (that is in Jul in US), you can start your green card process.

If you want to leave after filing I-485, you will need to get advance parole to travel outside US and come back.
