Reading through the FAQ of getting OCI in lieu of PIO, it isn't clear whether it is mandatory to do so or optional. I am considering this for my two children who have an American passport and a PIO card at this moment. Will this prevent them for traveling? Will their PIO card in essence become invalid at a certain date if I weren't to do this now?
