CKGS Lost my Passport and Original Documents

Hi,


I sent original passports and other documents for a new OCI application for my daughter . After Fedex delivered the document and obtained a signature proof, CKGS is not able to trace my original Documents. Just wondering if I can sue CKGS in the event they do not find my original documents . Please advise.

I am not sure about a law suit but I think you should first file a police report in the jurisdiction of CKGS. That is needed if you need to replace your original passports, renunciation etc. You should get CKGS to pay for this and all.
Once it is a police case involving lost US passport, CKGS will search high and low to recover your documents.

I am in Tampa,FL and sent the documents thru Fedex to CKGS for OCI. Ofcourse CKGS facilitated the fedex label purchase as well.

I am sorry that you are going through this trouble. I am not sure I can advise you. Start emailing the Indian Embassy in Washington DS. They will email the operation person of CKGS. They have to physically search. It must gotten lost internally.
How do you know they lost it? Did they tell you?

Well all that has happened . The MEA , Indian embassy CKGS everyone is involved for past 20 days but the passports haven't been located yet . The next step is to inform the police.

Question is whether I should it in Tampa or Atlanta?

Unfortunately the jurisdiction is where it was lost.

How can you "prove" that the passport was there inside that envelope that CKGS signed as received? if you can prove then you have strong case to sue them for mental agony.

As part of the OCI process, we are required to submit Original Passports to CKGS. There is a notice on Indian consulate website for the same. APart from that I have a copy of check list which we are required to submit as part of the application process.

Also the Fedex Tracking says that the package was delivered to CKGS and someone in CKGS has signed for receipt of the package.

I also paid the Application fee.

Do we need more proofs than this?

why does he/she have to prove anything? If they have accepted the application then it had all the million documents that dumb babus at Indian Embassy and CKGS have asked for. You need to stop thinking like you are in India now.
