son overstay in india with 10 year visa

Hi Immigration Gurus,

Hope everyone is doing good. I have a strange situation now with my son in india. He was born in USA in june 2006 and went to india when he was 3 months old with 10year indian visa. I think as per visa terms&conditions, he can stay upto 6 months but he overstayed and it's almost 8 months now. I just realized this from one of my friends and now dont know what to do to overcome this situation.
Somebody please help me from this situation....

you just need to get him registered, you are ok becasue he is a minor.

why not apply for PIO card and get the bother over with.

But can we get him registered in US with indian consulate...or is it something that has to be done in india...?
