Indian Passport is expiring in 2008..u.s. visa is till 2009

My passport is expiring in aug 2008 and my U.s visa is valid till 2009. I donno what to do. and i ve tried calling the indian consulate in chicago..sadly i ve never been able to get through..so i have no clue of what to do next..

Dear PHENILMEHTA:

I am sorry but I don't understand what's your problem.

You can renew your passport, (I believe) up to a year in advance. CGI takes about a month to renew the passport.

The expired passport will be canceled except for any valid visas in the passport.

Your visa will remain valid till it's own expiry date.

Once you get the new Indian passport, they will also send you back your canceled passport. You will then need to carry both with you.

ok i understand we can renew it..but my prob is i dont know where to send it for renewal...whts CGI ?
