Huston cosulate OCI time frame and what are the options if I have to travel India

I had applied for OCI at Houston indian cosulate last month(they recieved it on 13th June). Does any one how long is taking now? What are my options, if I have to goto India mean while? I still have my indian passport but I don't think I can use them any more because I took US citizenship?

you cannot use Indian passport, but if you need to travel you can get a visa stamped, that usually with appointment is granted the same day.

They are currently taking over 2 months just to acknowledge that they received the application. Rest of the processing time is extra.
