Anyone recently applied at SF for renunciation? VFS says processing is 5-7 days and cgisf says 30 days. Trying to get an idea about when to call VFS for the processing delay..

Hi bharq1gt - Were you able to resolve your question on minor's passport details entry if the minor still has/her Indian passport only (No US passport yet)? I am in the same situation I am not sure what to enter, there is no option to enter India passport details, VFS website assumes the minor has US passport

Please help me. I am trying to complete this stupid renunciation form on VFS Global. I have one child that was Indian Citizen and the form asked me "Do you have Minor Children, who are / were Citizens of India?*. When I clicked yes, it asks me following and I have no clue what details should be provided. Should this be Indian PP or US PP? When I print the renunciation form, it appears that Passport Number and Issue Date pertains to US whereas all address details are related to Indian PP. What a nightmarish VFS process!

Please help. When I preview the renunciation form after filling out this details, it displays following text on the form-

Minor Child 1,<xxxxx Name from Form> ,born in <Address details on form including Country> on DOB from the form fields below having a US / Foreign Passport Number : Passport nUmber entered belowIssued on Date of Issue in the form below.

Fields on VFS Global form as following:

    Surname (Last Name)
    First Name*
    Middle Name (If any)
    Passport Number*
    Date of Issue*
    Date Of Birth*
    Country*
    Pincode*
    Address 1*
    Address 2
    Address 3
    City*
    State / District*

I think the options that show up in the VFS online application form - with STAMP/without STAMP is a typo. It should be with PASSPORT/without PASSPORT. Like the other person (@Donald Trump) said, we all are doing this in order to get the stamp. But since they have 4 options in the Documents check list - on or after June 1, 2010 with/without passport and before June 1, 2010 with/without passport - I am drawing the above conclusion. Therefore, I am choosing the option after June 1, 2010 with STAMP and hoping I am right.

NOTE - I already got rejected once since I sent my forms to Washington DC consulate office (which is correct since I live in NC) but I wrongly registered on the passport govt. website by choosing Atlanta and it ended up printing the renunciation application with Atlanta showing up on the header. Even though I saw it before sending, I didn't know how to fix it because I forgot it was part of the registration profile. After they rejected the application saying "wrong jurisdiction", I figured it out the hard way that it was part of the passport website registration which doesn't allow you to edit your profile! So, I had to create another profile with Washington DC as the correct embassy. And I have selected the option after June 1, 2010 with STAMP as I said before and hoping it is all going to be OK!!!

I need some help with the renunciation process. I am confused about the number of photos that needs to be submitted with the documents. Do you paste one on the form filled on the gov.in site and then send 2 additional photos with the documents? Or, you just send two photos without pasting one on the form?

    Thanks
I pasted one and sent two additional. It got approved without a problem, although they sent me back the 2 photos, but I would still just send them.

I called them this morning they said i will require affidavit of name change certificate notarized i told them i already sent one name variation certificate notarized with id proofs like my us citizen certificate and also my usa driver license explained him not changed legal name . But they said we need affidavit so i sent them 2 different format of name change affidavit notarized. Hope either one works but document titled as name change affidavit in both docs . I will keep keep posted what happens so others might get help if something like this comes up . Thanks . Hope they make process easier .

Should i just send name change affidavit thats on vfs website for passport ? As there is no separate name change affidavit on vfs website for renunciation. Also how difficult its to make them understand that i haven't change name just removed my middle name . Should i also send letter of explanation along with affidavit? Any suggestions pls
Did you include the one and same name affidavit notarized or just sent an affidavit without notary? They req notarized affidavit. Just google one and same name affidavit and send that.

Sorry to hear about your problem. I sent the same affidavit I posted above for my Renunciation and OCI. VFS processed both without issue and submitted to the Consulate (my OCI is currently under process at the Houston Consulate).

As you said, yours is not a name change, just a variation in name. I would first try emailing your Consulate and explain the issue (mention your ARN and attach a copy of the notarized affidavit you submitted to VFS). They may accept it and instruct VFS to process the application. From my experience, the Consulate usually replies to emails within 24 hours.

If you have any other US ID that shows your middle name (like Driver's License or Employee ID etc), then attaching a copy might help as it shows that your name didn't change and you just opted to not have your middle name on the passport.

If that doesn't work, then I guess you will have to provide the name change affidavit in the format they want. Doesn't make any sense, but such is the brainless process of the Indian bureaucracy - finicky about name spellings and address proofs ????
