For me, VFS took 3 wk, it is waiting at embassy for 3+ wks now.....embassy says ~30 days processing time, so i am just gonna wait for 30 full days and then blast emails to them.

I have pre-paid the back-and-forth Fedex labels for SFO (already charged to my credit card), but when I try to "download courier labels" on VFS, no matter whether I enter his India or US passport number, I get "no records found".Has anyone else experienced this? Honestly, I'm at my wit's end, and will happily pay for my own label if I can just get this application submitted. Time is of the essence. Thanks for your help!
You should have received an email from VFS after you completed the forms, which includes application confirmation letter and renunciation cert form. In the app confirmation letter, there is passport number and ARN, use that to find your label. If you did not recv any email then the application process is likely not complete. To find incomplete application, click on "Retrieve Incomplete Application".

If you are entering correct info, try first retrieving application by clicking on "Email Confirmation Letter".

Also inside application confirmation letter, you can verify if round trip courier was marked paid.

If you have already done all of above with no success, I would recommend calling VFS.

For renunciation purpose, Indian passport number is the relevant passport number so use that unless asked for foreign passport number.

For US passport copy, if you have the standard passport, then they require copy of the photo page and then last 2 pages which are endorsement pages.

Does anyone have a user friendly list of documents for Indian Passport Renunciation.
Specifically - for US passport - they need copy of Information page and LAST TWO amendment pages - per website this is page 22,23,24 from 24 page passport and 25,26,27 from 28 page passport. My passport has 52 pages. I am really not sure 1. which are the amendment pages to copy - would it be 55,56,57,58 in my case ?

I received "ON HOLD" on my renunication application. It says below
Please reprint Surrender online application form (the top must show New York Consulate General of India heading). Consulate will not accept application without showing the correct Jurisdiction office.
I see the header "New York Consulate General" is not there on my form for some reason but it is there on my spouse's form. It seems like a system issue as even I try to download again it is still not there. Any face such issue and know how to resolve it ?

Question on address proof and mailing address for Renunciation certificate
Looking to apply for Renunciation certficate while applicant is temporarily residing out of state.
Should the application be made at the same area of jurisdiction as temporary residence ?
The permanent residence address of applicant is in a different area of jurisdiction (NY)
Notarized affidavit is allowed as proof of address as per the cheat sheet given from VFS ?
    Look forward to some insights.

Which consulate? How long since you applied? I assume this message is from Consulate?

VFS email contains an Application Letter & Renunciation Cert Letter (attached pdfs) after registration is complete at their site. The only thing I can think of is the pdf "name" which includes application letter has an ID which looks something like this..."USAS___.pdf". That same ID was used for renunciation cert pdf document name and courier labels pdf names. That is very likely VFS Application ID#.

(this is my best guess, i don't claim that it for sure is).

bloxer VFS only charges about $15.90 as service fee. The rest goes to Indian government actually!

The vendor before VFS was CKGS and it was very efficient with them. They had a very good online application and tracking system of their own and you could even do Renunciation and OCI application together when CKGS was the vendor. The only reason CKGS lost contract was their founder (Founder of parent company Cox & Kings) was involved in some bank fraud and investigations and cases are going against him. (This is the only logical reason I can think of for the change in vendors) You can search Cox and Kings bank fraud online if you are interested!

Unfortunately, VFS was the natural choice as VFS had experience before CKGS of being the vendor but VFS was known for its bad performance even previously..

    * I asked VFS (today) about how long embassy is taking right now, they said 1 week. So clearly that is not true because we know embassy is taking much longer.
    * VFS also said applications at VFS is taking 1 week, that is also a lie (from my own experience 2wks+ and counting). <== this is a killer in whole system, which is already a sloth

I am forming a serious complaint against VFS to MEA, will post early next week to their website. This slowness is acceptable when they do it for free, but not otherwise if they charge $200+ for each step. I am paying for a service & getting garbage. Things need to change. We all need to file a complaint with MEA directly. In fact, if you look at MEA website, there are specific links for VFS related issues/complaints.

In this era, how are we all even putting up with such organizations! If there was even a single person handling all cases "actively", I cannot see how things will move so slow.
