  • Travel in March

I may have to travel to India in early March. Unfortunately I have not applied for renunciation and OCI. Do you think about a month is enough time to receive renunciation and OCI back? is there an expediated version of this service?

Not possible. I recommend applying for renunciation and then emergency visa. It's taking longer for renunciation and used to take two weeks prior to Covid. I applied for OCI on dec 15 and still haven't received it. It just left from Delhi today.

BTW what's the process of traveling to India during pandemic? Do we have to have a negative test prior to flight? I guess it is recommended not to book flight until negative test, right?

You can book and travel to India (Indian passport holders, OCI and some business visa holders only right now) at any time. The only requirement is a negative PCR test within 48-72 hours of the flight (These hours can be different for different countries). There is no restriction on when you can book a ticket.

so they are not issuing emergency visa now? we definitely don't qualify for any of the above categories right now.

They are issuing emergency visas. Visit the consulate website for instructions. Of course it's for emergency situation only. If you don't have any don't apply.

Well no lol. Copy pasted from sf consulate website.

Supporting documents for reason of travel (death certificate or doctors/hospital certificate).

seriously? I don't even get what's the rush in getting married with so much travel restrictions everywhere.
Thanks for the link. Might have to invent a reason or travel on Indian passport.
