Schengen Visa

To whom it may concern,

Im a South African living and working in the UK- I wish to go on some European holidays in the near future and have the following questions regarding the schengen visa requirements:

I have a highly skilled working permit for the UK- does this in any way exempt me from the schengen visa requirements?

If no above- Over a 6 month period I would like to travel to various schengen countries- I need to apply for my visa at the embassy of the country I will first enter- Am I right in saying that after the initial entry I can in my future travels enter at any port not necessarily the one I got the visa from.

What is the cost of a schengen visa?
