can u tell me please if one has greencard on family basis..how many years should one stay in usa to get citizenship?does it mean that one cannot leave the usa anytime for those many years?

If the person got a green card based on marriage to US citizen, 3 years. Otherwise, 5 years.
That does not mean you can't go out of the US during those years. It just means you can't go for more than 6 months.
