DOS initiated another inquiry on my case

Hello Brothers,

Today I called DOS couple of times. First lady was rude to the core. The second one was old and kind.. I told her that I am waiting for past 6 months and requested to place an inquiry. Initially she was hesitant. I gave my sob story that kids are missing school and lots of problems I am having. She gave me a kind ear and then said 'Ok sir! I am putting a an inquiry on your case. Call us in 7 to 10 days'..

Praying that this should work for me this time as the passports are now with the consulate. Let me know what you think.. Ask me how to charm DOS visa specialists!

Did anyone get white slip from hyd consulate recently ?

So they asked me some questions about the company & gave me a white slip & told me that my company should E-Mail them the contracts with the customers .

Wait for few more days.. This is employer verification and hence may take some time.. If you see regular updates, thats a good sign. Be positive and ask your employer to be very proactive in sending any documents, or in responding to emails and calls of the consulate. best of luck

How often does the case update date change?

Did anyone get white slip from hyd consulate recently ?

I have attended the interview on aug 18th 2013 , I am working for a start up and I am the first person to go to H1B stamping from my company.
So they asked me some questions about the company & gave me a white slip & told me that my company should E-Mail them the contracts with the customers .

They did not ask me for any other documents , they have returned my passport back to me.

My concerned manager mailed them the necessary documents on aug 21st, but we donot whether the documents are sufficient or not and whether they recieved it or not. The lady who interviewed me mentioned that They would 2-3 weeks after we email the documents to them

My case status was showing AP from day one but update date changed once on 24th august , 30th august & 4th september.

Should I just wait for response from consulate or should I email them ask them about my case status.

Please Advice.

My contract with the client expired on 31st August and I was promised that it would be renewed after returning to the US. Will this be a problem at the port of entry, or is it okay as long as I am employed to my H1B petitioner?

Hi Ajay,
First of all many congrats to you. I am glad that the wait is over for you. Secondly, I dont think it will be a problem. At the port of entry if they ask about your employment you can/have to give the name of the company that you actually work for, your sponsor i.e. your H1 petitioner. Worst case you can let them know that you are working on an inhouse project and supporting multiple clients etc.....make sure someone at your employers end is aware of this so they can back up your statements should they call them. Thirdly, I know you have been here for a while, but can you give us some info about your case, like interview date, case update date changes etc.....

Status changed to ISSUED!

My friend Ajay.. As I mentioned earlier, its an intermediate change. It changes from AP to Ready to AP to ISSUED. lot of folks went through this.. Please check some of the pages in this forum.. Dont worry.. you will post a message update with a smiley tomorrow. THanks.

Yes, you are right brother. There is no fixed pattern & we cannot predict anything now. I think, you must be remember that there is a guy on fb who is from Delhi and waiting since Dec 2012.His case just update on 27th & visa issued on 29th of Aug. so, he has got his visa just after one update. They are treating each case separately or I can say they are playing with us one by one. Does it really mean it do to AP for such long time. What they are checking I do not understand it.
The worst thing is that I have seen some case which has been updated in mid of July & still waiting to next update. It’s really very ridiculous, very frustrating process. They should remove this process & can do whatever they want to do in AP while we file the petition so that at the time of VI they should be able to take any decision. They have all the information while we file petition why they did not initiate this damn AP..?

As of now we cannot do anything so let pray for each other & have patience. Allah is always there & one day he will listen our words. Aameen.

I don't know what to tell you brother.....I understand that this is very frustrating and trust me I know how it feels. I have been waiting for approx 13 months now and I too had many updates in the last few weeks and even yesterday. I thought today will be the end and so did munna as he is in the same boat with his dates approx the same as mine. But its past noon today and still shows AP and no change in date anymore. I am going to give this max by end of week and Inshallah I will stop freaking out and will stop checking with consulate and DOS as much as I am doing today. It will come when it comes....at this point I can confirm that there is no specific pattern of date changes etc that can guarantee that the wait is over. The way DOS and Consulate works is definitely non consistent...hence as hard as it may sound we just have to wait and watch....that's it!!!

Please help me understand my case. My application was updated on 26th, 27th & 29th Aug 2013. I was very happy that the wait is over but this killing wait does not want to go. After, 29th of Aug they did not touch my application. The last updated date is still showing up 29-Aug-2013. VI retain my passport at the time of interview (Feb 2013) & this is my fresh H1b. I never visited any country before. I am feeling like they are playing with me. I will complete 7 month on 6 Sep.

What is your opinion on this guys? Generally, after 2-3 updates people got their visa. They again put my application for AP??

Please help, I am very disappointed now!!!

Also I am glad that my assumption of why DOS was saying my last update was 12th Aug makes sense now as maybe the other update dates were because of internal updates within the consulate.

I called up DOS yesterday for the status since 106 days has passed. The response being still in AP. I was surprised about their statement that Dubai Consulate has not cleared. All the while I was thinking that the case is being held up in DOS. Is their a way we can force consulate to push our case? Or shall I approach any senator on this issue?

I also doubt this...as on 28, 29 and 30 August there where updates in Dubai, Chennai and Hyderabad. Simultaneous activity in different places would be due to DOS action and not by consulates..isn't it?

I feel very sorry for those who are being harassed by this damn AP. Our government is trying to push Modi's case and ignorant about the plight of hardworking, foreign exchange remitting individuals who move the economy great deal.

You guys are right in terms of updates being done in Hyd consul... Thats the reason the DOS folks tell that Hyd consul is working on it.. I think DOS job is done after the name check clearance is sent to Consulate. Hyd consulate before isssues the visa confirms the validity of the previous clearances.. The status updates we see purely means that the file moving from desk to desk internally in the consulate.. I am not sure if DOS sees these updates..

I guess after few updates it changes to ISSUED.. Inshallah tomorrow or this week is our turn.. Generally 3 updates are average before it changes to Issued..

MASK bhai, you have seen weekly updates since Mid of Aug and then rapid updates since last week.. Each update means we are closer to the *****al day.. Inshallah tomorrow.. lets all pray..

Updates only relate to HYD Consul

One more twist ..I think you are right regarding update dates at consulate, it looks like DOS have visibility to Admin processing(name check) and decision updates. After my 22nd August update, I received mail from HydCEA unit for a letter and the update date changed twice since then whereas the first update was after 5 months. So, as long as there are updates there is hope , God only knows how many checks are being done at consulate.

I told her that I saw the date change on aug 16th, 23rd, 29th and today sept 3rd. She said that maybe her system wasnt updated with those dates but I doubt if that is the case. Aug 12th is too far back for their systems to not be updated. The reason why this concerns and bothers me is that WE from our end are really taking these update dates seriously and getting our hopes up. But if DOS doesnt agree with these dates then what do we do next? Because I always try to be optimistic and think of only the good things, I am thinking that maybe the recent date changes were only at the consulate end and maybe thats why DOS doesnt see it. Is that possible and/or does it even make sense....im just trippin!!!

The problem here is that every time we discover a pattern here and have results from other people to back it up, something like this comes our way and we are back to square 1......At what point do we just give up???!!!!!

Do I need to find someone who can start selling my stuff back in US? :-) I know that eventually the visa will be issued but how much longer can we actually take it.......

Check with your employer/petitioner to see if they have received any calls or queries from consulate guys, probably after name check is complete they are verifying if your employment is still good after all these months wait. It is extremely frustrating but don't be disappointed, keep hope and pray.
