H4 Visa Stamping Query

I am in US right now and my H 1 got approved in May 2013 and H 1 activates on oct 1 2013.My wife is in India right now. How soon she can appear for her H4 visa ?
Please also tell me what are documents required for her visa ?

How soon she can appear for her visa? I am planning for her visa in end of august or first week of september. How soon she can enter US.

Generally consulate allow 90 days in advance, so she can apply at any time now.

I read in some forum people are saying that you can enter 10 days before visa activation.
Is that true.? My wife alone going for her visa and I am in US right now.

They sometimes use the 10 day convention for entry. You can try that if 10 days makes that much of a difference to you.
