Travelling through Frankfurt to Chennai without valid US visa

Dear Attorneys

I do not have a valid US visa on my passport(planning to appear for stamping in India). Is there any restriction on certain countries like Frankfurt/London that I cannot choose them as a layover on my way to India. For instance,I was told that I cannot travel to India via Lufthansa Airways as it requires a stop in Frankfurt. Is this true ?

Kindly advice. I am planning to book tickets in a day or two for my marriage.

Avoid Europe if you have no visa. Getting a transit visa is a hassle. Go through the Middle East, or over the Pacific.
