My H1B visa ending and PERM filed - Queries

Hello,

I'm working in the US on H1B visa. I'm in my sixth year at the moment.
My H1B expires on Dec 23, 2016 (this year)

The employer filed my PERM on Dec 15, 2015 (last year).

Questions:

1) How many months does it take for DOL to approve PERM applications ?

2) If my i-140 is not filed & approved before Dec 23, 2016 am I not eligible for H1B extensions ?

3) When is it ideal for me to change jobs considering my current situation ?

1. Typically 9-12 Months without audit.
2. You are eligible for 1 Year extension, if I140 is approved you are eligible for 3 year extension.
3. best option is to get I140 approved, get 3 year extension based on approved I140 and then change job after getting I140 copy with you.

Who should I follow up with lawyer or employer ?
