H4 stamping steps

Hi all,
My wife needs to go to India and has to do new stamping for her passport.
Does anybody know the steps for getting the appointment and which forms to fill, etc.
Also if anybody can share some experiences about the interview at the Mumbai consulate, it will be helpful.

Hi all,

My wife's passport expires in Nov 2010.But she is traveling to India and needs to get a new H4 stamping for her passport which is until Nov 2011. I understand that unless she has a passport valid until Nov 2011, she might just get a stamping until her passport expires.

What is the quickest way to get a new passport issued. The Chicago consulate general is the nearest for us.

Passport renewal in U.S is much quicker than India. It would take approximately 20 days to get the renewed passport.

Is this true? My kid's passport is valid until Mar 11 and she has to appear for H4 visa. Does she get only till Mar 11? She is in India now.
