  • Can I submit W2 copies for H4 stamping?

    Consulate appt: Chennai

I am currently in U.S. My wife has to get her H4 stamping as the previous one expired. I have a valid I-797 approval.

I provided I-797 copy and latest pay slips , tax return documents.
    Also gave the W2 copies

    Do we need original W2's???

    Appreciate your help!!

W2 copies are fine. I797 original is needed for stamping.

I am not a lawyer and you need to consult with one to validate any info posted on the forum and discuss your case specifics. H1b Question? Read the FAQ first.

In the VFS links.. I found that I-797 copy is fine..for H4.

Well, depending on the VO a copy of I-797 might or might not work. If a 221g is issued, then it will take a long time to get the H4 stamped. Check the below link for the list of documents required.

Valid passport and a valid I-94 is enough to stay in U.S. Cut the bottom portion of the approval notice and keep it with you. Also, keep a copy of your I-797 with you (Top portion of the approval notice). Ask your spouse to bring the original approval notice safe after stamping.
