Minor passport & Visa in India when Parent is in abroad.

Hi,

I need to apply for passport and attend visa for my son (just born) in India, my family is in India and I am in US.

My wife and 1st kid already attended for H4 visa 3 months back and they got it. But they did not travel here as we dedided to have delivery in india and bring family after new

Could you please let me know the procedure for taking passport in Hyderabad?

Could you please let me know the procedure for attending only new kid for H4 visa?

I heard for baby's below 7 years no need to attend in person. Is the correct? If YES, what is the procedure for getting vosa?

I wanted to bring my family here as soon as possible. Can you tell me how much time it will take to get passport and visa for my new kid?

>>> There is no need to attend the visa interview. You can opt for the visa waiver program to get the H4 visa for your infant. If you want to schedule the visa interview, then the procedure is same as what you followed for your wife and the other kid. At least one parent should accompany the kid. if one of the parent cannot attend the visa along with the kid, then that parent should give a letter sating that he/she is okay with the kid applying for the visa.

Once you have the passport, you need to submit the application to get the U.S visa. If you schedule the appointment and if the visa gets approved, you will receive the passport within 2 weeks. In case of visa waiver program, it can take few weeks. VWP is pretty new. If you opt to use VWP, then do update the forum with the time frame within which the passport is received. It will help someone who is looking for this info.
