  • L1A work requirement

    Hi all,

I am very confused by the 1 year requirement for L1A. Please help me out!

My company is starting a new branch in the US. I will be working as a manager there. However, my concern is that I have only joined the company (in my home country) less than a year ago. I noticed the 1 year work requirement before applying L1A.

Could you please help me understand that:

Is the 1 year employment requirement required in your domestic country(meaning your employment contract is still with your company in your home country) or can it be like hired by the new US branch then work there for over 1 year?

I have only been employed by my company for 5 months, planning to transfer soon. Does that mean I have to wait until my employment reach the 1 year limit before applying L1A? And in the meantime if I need to do my work in the new US branch, I need other type of Visa?

When you transfer from L1A to GC, there is also a 1 year work requirement. Does this requirement mean you have to work on L1A in your new US branch for 1 year before applying GC or is it you work with any part of your branch (US or home country) in your company for 1 year?

So say If I get my L1A now, **yr work requirement **yr application time, does it mean I will get GC in 2 years from now if not trouble comes through?

    MANY MANY THANKS ALL!

you need to be a manager in your company for minimum 1 year + also make sure you current company is in business for minimum 3 years

once approved you will get a year 1 visa and have to apply for extension (which is the real test and deal breaker)

once extension approved, you can apply greencard.
