  • L1 visa interview with pregnant spouse

    Hi ,

I have been recently asked by my company to move to US on L1A asap. My spouse is 2 months pregnant
Does this have any impact on L1 interview and also at the port of entry
Also once I reach US can I take any health/medical insurance to cover her maternity costs. Is it allowed to take maternity coverage in the middle of the pregnancy

Any help would be greatly appreciated as I am struggling to find answers.

    Many thanks!

From an L1/L2 interview point I do not see pregnancy as a concern.

From an insurance point, yes, it could be challenging. Insurance companies generally do not covered pre existing pregnancies.

This is my opinion not legal advice.

      Insurance

If your employer offers insurance that will be the best if not only way for you to obtain coverage for the pregnancy.

Hi , Thanks for your note. My company will be providing me an insurance cover as soon as I reach but its not clear if per-existing pregnancy will be covered. I am still checking on it.
Could you advise that can I take any private insurance in US with pre- existing pregnancy .

        Regards.

I doubt any insurance provider would willingly cover pregnancy. Some times employer provided insurance do cover it, but US is not exactly a fairy land when it comes to Medical insurance and costs check what your employer policy states.

There was a thread earlier for this http://www.immihelp.com/forum/showth...-non-immigrant
