L1A expired and extension in RFE. Can I travel?

Hello everyone. Here is my situation:

L1A blanket visa / I129S has expired on Aug 13 2017
I-94 is valid until Apr 2020
I-797 valid indefinitely

My L1A extension is filed in Premium and received RFE notice couple of days ago.

I need to travel to India for an important personal work by Oct last week for 2 weeks. Would it be advisable to travel now and return to US?

What are the options?

You need a valid Visa to return. Merely having a receipt would not entitle you to return.

You can always travel...it is a free country! You may not be able to come back! Right now, you have no valid visa. What are you going to show in POE as proof you can enter in US? That you have a visa in process??? Hum...I don`t think it is a good idea. Next time, pay more attention to the renewal dates to avoid this situation.
