  • Stamping appointment cancelled. Is it safe to travel back with L1B visa and L1A pet?

I have a valid L1B visa on my passport until May 29 2019. I got L1A extension (L1B – L1A) this October and my current status is L1A. I’m in India for a personal trip and I planned to stamp the new visa as well. I completed my biometric appointment and my consulate appointment was scheduled on Dec 5th. Due to the passing of former president George HW Bush, December 5 2018 was observed as mourning day and my appointment was cancelled.

Next available appointment is on January 10th. If there is administrative processing, it could still go beyond January 10th. This is a huge problem for me as I left US on Nov 23rd. I & my wife have to resume work as early as possible. My kid got shortlisted for “gifted program” and her exam is on Dec 18th. It impacts my whole family now.

    Questions:

    1) Is it safe to travel back with valid L1B visa and L1A petition ?
    2) Are there any chances of entry denial at POE ?

No, it is not suggested to travel on L1B visa - since you do not have that valid now.

There may be a chance that the CBP officer neglect your visa type & give you entry - but higher chances are that you will be asked to go back.

Did you go to visa interview or were you able to travel with the same L1B visa? I am in the same situation and would like to get some feedback.
