How long can a person with visitors visa stay in the US

How long can a person on visitor visa stay in US. Is it 6 months? Also I would like to know if the person needs to return to homeland after the end of 6 months or can visit any other country. And what is minimum days the person needs to stay outside US to be able to visit again.

Any information in this regard will be very helpful.

the time frame is 90 days which is about 3 months.
