  • Financial documents for B2 Visa

    Hi

I am planning to call somebody from India to US on Tourist Visa.

I think I need to send my salary statement, bank statement, etc to show that I have sufficient money to support their travel.

But, I think if the person getting Visa can show that he/she has sufficient money to support his/her travel, then I may not have to send my financial docs to him/her.

Is this correct? If yes, then what amount he/she should be showing?

    Thanks

You can still send an invitation letter.

There are lot of factors apart from income, your relation to the person, age, the purpose of trip, duration, family/financial ties of the person to their home country all play vital role in a successful B2. One should objectively look at reasons to visit US as well as, more importantly, why the person would want to return back to hte home country after the brief trip and gather proof of the same.

A decent, provable income (above average, such as 10-12 lakh per annum in India) for that person should be a good starting point.

What I mean by provable is through salary slips/bank statements/IT returns.

This is my opinion not legal advice.

What if the person coming is retired? Like, parents or parents-in-law.

If they don't have any income now, and if they show this bank balance along with other property and investment papers, are the chances of getting B2 Visa reduced?

In case of elderlies bank balance and property papers are rarely seen.

Consulates/VOs, especially in India, know that verfying the true nature of funds in bank, and authenticity of property papers, even if genuine is no easy task, as bulk of the transactions goes on in cash.

In such scenarios they look strongly at family ties of the elderlies. For example, a person who has only one child son/daughter in US will have lesser chances than a someone who has a studying kid/unmarried child staying with them and staying back. Widows have less chances if staying alone and kid(s) are abroad etc. It all depends upon case to case basis.

Immihelp has extensive information on the process and do's/dont's for visitor visa at :

USA Visitors Visa - Comprehensive information for a sponsor and visitor. Visitor visa sample documents and interview preparation tips available. Visitors visa case studies and reapplication advice for the refusal of a USA visitor visa. Ask visitor visa related questions in our discussions forum

If you could specifically give your relation to the person, age, the purpose of trip, duration, family/financial ties of the person you are inviting the experts in this forum can try to help you by pointing the positives and how to work on negatives if any.

This is my opinion not legal advice.

Yes. That should be feasible, but I think they have to be below a certain threshold as far as pension goes.
