More than 6 month stay?

Hi. Wanted to know if there is any provision for visitor on B2 to stay more than 6 months at a given time? Father in law passed away. Was wondering if mother in law could stay for more than 6 months. Please let me know. Any replies will be really helpful.

She can apply for extension of stay. However, that also would be for the maximum 6 months.

In short, a visitor can't stay here forever.
