Urgent Mumbai Consulate help

I have scheduled an appointment for my parents at Mumbai Consulate. As per information, we submitted all documents prior to their interview. But our documents returned back from US VFS saying that they don't need any document before interview. Anyone here who submitted docs ? It is urgent question, I would appreciate if you reply back as soon as possible. Thank you very much.

Its a real confusion, i read here that one party submitted even original passoport before the interview dates at Mahalakshmi VFS center. Then they went to consulate for appointment on appointment date, got the visa and finally got the passport by courier.
I dont think anyone here will have clear answer for your question. I had scheduled an interview for my parents on Feb second week in Bombay consulate. I sent all the supporting papers including original birth cirtificate. I told my parents go to VFS bombay and let them take what they want.

I know they only need original Application (156/157) and a copy of appointment letter. But some time I heard they even take original Passport of the applicant.

My brother personally went to submit all the documents, they didn't accept it. Then he sent it by blue dart courier to US VFS office ,Tirupati Apts,Bhulabhai Desai Road. My father got a call from vfs office, that lady said they don't accept any documnets & asked him to take everything back. It is really confusing process. Anyone who successfully submitted the docs please guide us.

I took an appointment for my mother by personally going to the VFS center in Mumbai about 2 months ago. At that point they took the original DS 156/157, original hdfc bank receipt, 1 photograph, demand draft worth Rs 2,300/=. In return they issued the interview appointment letter. They also returned the passport after verifying it. They mentioned that at the time of the interview, one should get the appointment letter, copy of the hdfc receipt, passport and other supporting documents.
This is what I experienced. I do not know how different it is for others.

Thanks for the info . This is how my rother also took an appointment & got an appointment letter from them. But what about submission of other documents like copies of sponsor docs & visitors other supporting docs ?? Where should we submit it ? we tried both personally & by courier, nothing worked & this is my confusion.Their appointment is in the next week & I don't have any answer for it.:-(

Also is there any difference in online & offline appointments ? My brother gave all the forms & HDFC receipts manually. We didn't do anything online .

VFS site has 2 parts, docs for appointment which we have to courier & docs at the time of an interview

immihelp says send photocopies of supporting docs including ur propery papers ,i-134,birth certificate etc at least 5 days before the interview.

VFS does not have those 2 parts. It has required documents and supporting documents parts. Given at https://www.vfs-usa.co.in/ApplnForms...Documents.aspx Is that what you are referring to?

Procedure is different at Mumbai than other consulates.

For Mumbai, you have to send everything as per mentioned at https://www.immihelp.com/us-visa-application-procedure/ 5 days in advance. For other consulates, you have to carry them at the interview.

Our instructions are based on VFS instructions as they are the ones requiring the documents. However, other details in that page are based on the clarifications we received as things are not not very clear on VFS web site. Actual procedure remains same.

Is Sending the docs to VSF before 5 days is ONLY for Mumbai consulate?
I assume for Chennai, we need to carry the docs and no need to send them over to VSF.

Please correct me if I am wrong..

if you check for Mumbai consulate using following links you will find two sections, one for mandatory docs which we have to submit it at least 5 days before interview & another is supporting docs which we have to carry at the time of an interview.
Sending docs is only for the people who take online appointment, for the people who go personally to take an appointment have to submit necsssary docs to get an appointment. In that case there is no document submission.

the confusion still exist with Bombay consulate. Its not clear which document they want before 5 days of the actual interview date. Here is a interesting post

My parents went with all the paper work to VFS mumbai. They only took the DD, passport copies, HDFC reciept and Application(156/157) I took the online appointment for them.
Also they took 150 Rupees each (total 300) and told them to come to VFS center 45min before the interview time on the appointment day so that they can take them in a mini-bus to the consulate.(this is something new i guess).
Both my parents went, but they only allowed dad inside.
