  • Planning to Visit USA for 1st time.

I am planning to visit my Brother-in-law and his family this year. I have no travel history but my wife visited Malaysia 5 years back for 2 weeks.
I will apply visit visa with my wife from Pakistan. We got married in November 2016 and this USA trip will be sponsored by my brother-in-law (my wife's elder brother) which is a U.S citizen from last 13 years and well settled doing job in bank.
I am doing my own business from last 7 years and my wife is also running her beauty saloon from last 3 years.
My monthly income is around 360,000 rupees per month (300,000 from my business and 60,000 i m getting rent from our another property) and my wife's income is around 150,000 rupees per month.

What should we tell to Visa officer that why we are going to USA?
    1. to visit my wife's brother's and his family ?
    2. to visit my wife's brother's and his family and sight seeing New York ?
or is there any better reason to tell the VO ?

Should we self-sponsor ourselves or my bro-in-law sponsor us for this 3 weeks trip to New York ? Because ultimately we both gonna stay at his house and he will be taking care of all the money matters and each n everything during this trip excluding our return tickets.

My personal bank statement is around 1 Million PKR at the moment.

    1. If he sponsors us than I can tell the visa officer that we got married in November 2016 and this New York's trip is our Wedding Gift from my bro-in-law? so Visa officer understand this situation or not?

If there any extra information which can be helpful to us kindly mention. Thanks and Regards.

Option 2. Tourism and visit family.

Self sponsor would be better option. He can send the invitation letter. Please find self sponsor invitation letter in the following thread,

As you have very good income and bank balance I think self-sponsorship would be better to prove your strong financial ties to your home country. I don't see anything adverse if you say you will stay at your brother-in-law's place. Just make sure you carry good documentation to prove your income.

You may carry your bank and asset statements (notary not required) and indicate the true purpose of your intended visit. You asked for what's best told to Visa Officers; what I always say is, state the truth. If you're visiting family members, say so. COs are very much aware visitors also like to go sightseeing and traveling when in the US. No one spends three weeks sitting at home all the time.
In summary, there is no reason to concoct a story about about wedding gifts n all; do not lie just to get a visa. If you have the funds to use during the trip, tell the officer you'd be taking care of your personal expenses while staying with BIL. Keep it simple and stick with the facts. Your odds are good.

Do I need to carry my bank statement or my wife's bank statement or both in case? I will be the main applicant I mean I will start talking to the VO in English and my Wife will Talk in Urdu Language.

One thing more my Bank Account Title is on my Name because the payments I get from clients/customers are in cash mostly and same thing my wife is also operating personal account for monthly income from her beauty saloon.

We are not operating business accounts - accounts are personal and we don't have any record of tax payment we don't pay tax.
