Question - Forgot to Submit Documents 5 Days prior

Hi,
I have a questions. My uncle had his visa interview today December 1, 2006. His agent told him not to submit the documents 5 days prior and hence he didn't submit them. When he went to the consulate, they didn't check any documents or ask him any questions but told him to come back on December 6th and then they will give him a new date.

How does that work? Do I need to send him updated sponsor documents or he can use the ones that I already sent. Has anyone gone thru similar experience? What's the process like?
