Based on what you have mentioned, the chances of your visa getting approved is slim to none.

What is the purpose of your trip? Who is going to pay the money for the trip? How would you support yourself during your stay in US?

There is plenty of time in your life to visit US. Don't ruin your chances at this age as a rejection of visitor visa as a potential immigrant will haunt you forever.

If you do not wish to settle there, there is no harm in trying once. You may get lucky, though your situation is not favorable ( low income, young and single, parents not employed).

Ask your sister to send you an invitation letter and an affidavit of support.
You can say at the interview you are visiting your sis for vacation for 1 month. Show a leave letter from your office for exactly the period you are applying your visa for , the letter should also mention your salary and that the job is ongoing after your leave.

If you do not wish to involve your sis then your friend's sending an invitation
will not work because visiting sis is natural but visiting friend all the way to US is suspicious.

In that case, ask your L1 friend to try for a job there for you so you can get an H-1 at a university which is quota exempt. I am assuming you have a bachelor's degree. Not easy to find a job, but if your friend tries hard he can
find an assistant's job at a local university which can file an H-1 for you.
That is a very good way to see and work one year in US. H-1 is not refused like visitor visa.

          Dear peace,

Thanks a lot for the information.

I am a BSC Computer science student (3 yrs degree) completed in 2006

Can u please tell me whether i can first try for B2 and then for H-1. Bcos my intention is not to stay there for a long time. Or if i get rejected in B2 and then if i try H1 will there be again a question like why do u want to go in H1 and again will it get refused.

Also does H-1 is different from H1B.

Thanks u all for ur information.

Even if your visitor is denied, it won't affect your H-1. By H-1 I meant H-1B.
But I think they require a 4 yr bachelor's degree. Just confirm.

If you apply for a visitor, try to get a letter from your company showing strong future prospects for you in the company. That will convince the officer that you will return.

              Dear peace,

Once again thanks a lot for ur great support. I will ask in my office regarding the letter u have told. Should the letter be from my project lead or from my HR. IS it acceptable if they send me in mail and i wud take a print out of it, or should it be a written letter with my company seal in it.

              Thanks a lot in advance.

No copies or printouts. Get an original letter from the highest ranking official possible. That can turn the decision in your favour.

Also, do not forget to take some evidence proving that she is actually your sister. In India, people make **** relations to get visas so embassy MAY ask you for some proof. Examples of evidence are your and your sis's birth certificate copies both showing same parents' names. Pictures together.

Thank u very much for the information. U r such a wonderful friend i have got in this forum. Really u r so helpful. I will do as per what u have told. One more question does these things like mine & my sister birth certificate, my office letter, my credit and debit statement, my retirement policy and my LIC policy, my office employee ID card, voters ID card, my increment letter, Photos with my sister and with my parents are all enough.

And also does 1 lakh indian money is enough to show them i can sponser( i can make out 85 thousand extra so nearly 3000 US dollars) for my trip. or should i request my sister the invitation alone or she has to send me stating that she can take care of my 50% of expense.

One more thing should the invitation needs to be send in post from US or i can ask her to send in mail.

                  Thank u in advance.

You need to have very good income to self sponsor ( 8-10 lacs/yr)
And you cannot do 50-50 . You will be denied on funds issue alone.

The best way for you is to ask your sis to send an affidavit of support
if she is earning more than $ 40k /yr and supporting docs.( I-134 with tax returns, bank statements)

If you do not want to ask her , then it is going to be difficult. Couldn't your office send you to US on an assignment or something?

                    docs;
*invitation letter original from your sis mailed to you stating her visa status, employment status, income, addressed to the visa officer, US embassy or consulate, your city. Stating that she wishes to invite her sis for one month's stay and she will bear all her expenses. And that it is requested that a visitor visa be granted to her.
                    *invitation letter
                    * I-134, tax returns, bank statements.
                    * her passoport/visa copies
                    * bc copy if she has it.
                    * a letter from your company showing your leave, your salary, your designation, and more description about your future prospects.
                    * your salary slip, bank statements, get a statement of net worth from your
CA ( showing all your savings, policies, assets , shares, bonds and their net value on a piece of paper)

Advice; You should not get your hopes too high or else you will be disappointed . But since you are applying, you should apply with confidence.

                    Best of luck.
