Hello,
Just got an email from TTS visas saying that they increased the courier fees to Rs.441. The body of email is like this.
"Dear Applicant,
The recent finance bill which was approved by the President of India requires that we collect 10.2 pct service tax for our service charges from the applicant.
This will work out to Rs.41 (Rs.400 x 10.2% = 41). You will need to therefore pay us Rs 441.00 effective 15th Sep 2004.
Please bring a demand draft for the amount of Rs. 441 (inclusive of 10.2 pct service tax) per passport in favour of T.T.Services, payable at Chennai (non-refundable).
This amount is to be paid at the TTS counter at the American Consulate
General, Chennai.
Please write your name, your passport number and the date of your appointment on the back of the Demand Draft.
Warm Regards
Customer Support
TT Services
"
According to US consular's office(chennai website), chennai.usconsulate.gov/w...photo.html , Courier fees may be paid in cash or via a demand draft favoring "T.T. Services".
My parents had already left for chennai and their appoint is on sept 15th. They did not take demand draft as they said cash is fine. extra money is ok, just wanted to make sure whether anybody else got any email like this. do they want courier fees only as demand draft or do they still accept cash. HOPE I can get in touch with my parents and let them know.
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks
