Invitation Letter by an F-1 Student

Hi,

I am applying for my mother's visit visa (B2) as an independent applicant. Will she need an invitation letter from me to show at the time of interview? My status is F-1 OPT, so I am not considered a resident in the U.S. anyway.

Please clarfiy.
