Birth Certificate - Original or Photocopy

Hello,

I am a US citizen. I am in the process of preparing documents for my
parents to apply for tourist visa. Do I need to send the original birth certificate
or is a photocopy enough ?

Birth certificate is not required at all for U.S. citizens.

Photocopy of citizenship proof is required instead.
