DS-160 | Spouse last name

I am filling up DS-160 for my father and in his passport his spouse name only has my mom's first name and no last name.
Spouse's last name is not optional on DS-160. I am unsure if I should follow the first name as FNU and put my mom's first name in in last name field.
By the way I already went through Immihelp's DS-160 instructions and did not find this information under https://www.immihelp.com/us-visa-ds-...mation-spouse/.

Put the last name as per your mom's last name in her own passport.

I believe you're supposed to write FNU in the "first name" and write her real first name in the "last name" slot. The instructions on the right hand of the DS160 form tell you exactly how to fill it out.

FNU is to be written when she really doesn't have her First name in her own passport. Its just his father's passport doesn't have spouse name correct. So he should mention full name of her mother.
