Help reg appointment at Chennai

Hello everyone,

Did anyone got an interview appointment in Tamil at Chennai Consulate recently. I don't see any open/available slot for Tamil.

In addition to the above question, could anyone reply whether my understanding is correct.

1. Prepare Sponser Documents and Visitor documents.
2. Fill DS-160
3. Pay Visitor visa fee at HDFC bank and get receipt.
4. Schedule appointment with Chennai US consulate.

Since I don't see any appointments for Tamil , is it okay to go ahead and complete tasks 1,2 and 3? Once the dates are available, can I schedule the appointment or do I need to wait for the dates to be available to make the payment for Visa fee?

Also, could anyone please elaborate the process for digital photograph. Do we need only the digital version? If yes, do we need to get the digital version from the studio where my Parents intend to take the picture from? I'm planning to fill the form DS-160 on my Parent's behalf from here in the US. Hope it won't be an issue.

1. Yes, you can do all that preparations in advance.
2. You can take the picture from anywhere.

It is hard to get the appointments these days. There are posts here regarding this.

I have been trying to get the appointment in kannada at chennai consulate since 4 days and no calender shows up. I dont know whats happening?

I got it today for 28th Feb 2011 in English.

Yes, I got it for my parents on Feb 28th in Tamil. You have to keep trying every few minutes, mainly between 10:00 PM -1:00 AM EST. You can check the dates, once you have the dates you should book it right away. To book you need their PP info, DS-160 final bar code # and VFS DD bar codes.

Reg HDFC fee

Thanks for the replies friends.

While paying the Visitor visa fee, is it mandatory for my Dad (for whom we are requesting a B2 Visa) to appear in the bank to make the payment. Is it okay, if another relative of mine can take the photocopy of my Dad's passport and make the visa payment. Also, we are supposed to make the following fees at the HDFC bank

1. Visa application fee
2. VFS Service charge.

Is my understanding correct?

Regarding documents to be carried by the visitor, could anyone please tell me where I'll be able to print the original Interview Appointment Letter?
