Visitor Visa (WT to B1?)

My in-laws both have 10 year visa and they both arrived a few weeks ago. Unfortunately, I did not check both passports. And when I checked, I find to my surprise my mother in law has B1 visa with six months validity while my father in law has WT(tourist) with 90 days validity.

My father in law tells me that he did check with the immigration officer and he had said that he gave six months visa. I understand that it is our mistake not checking it immediately.

Has anyone encountered this before? How do I correct this?
