Issue with Mothers name cahnge on my Passport

Hi,

I am a L1 visa holder here in US and wanted to get my parents here for the visit purpose ASAP.
The problem is my passport has my mothers name as my name. They mis printed it and I din't had that time to change that back when I was applying my visa.
Now if i want to process my parents visa, what should i do?
If I go to indian Consulate here and get it changed, how bad it will effect the chances of getting my parents visa?
Also, what is the process to get it changed?

Please help me in this regard ASAP.

I have gone through the link you have posted. But for name change, the required documents list includes two advertisements in the news papers. But my case is not changing the name of a person, it is changing the mis print name on my passport.
My mother is having a valid passport. So would that work as a proof of name? Still do I need to have the advertisements in the daily news papers?
Please help me in this regard.
