  • Visitor Visa Extension

    Hello All,

My parent-in-law's I94 is expiring in first week of June . That finishes their 6 month stay. If I were to file for I94 extension for 3 more months, I have the following questions:

    1. What is the good time to file it ? How many weeks in advance ...

    2. Please let me know the URL where the forms and attachments needed are listed ?

    3. The 120 days extra stay after filing is from the original I94 expiration date or from the date of filing of extension?

    4. What is the processing time ? I live in Texas, so to which center will the application be sent ?

    5. Do we send one application each for parents or is it a joint application ?

    Thanks in advance,
    Parag

You should file it at least 45 days before the expiry of I-94. But be advised
that the responses to ext requests are routinely delayed, usually arriving when one's I-94 has expired. One must know the repurcussions of the situation when one's I-94 is expired and the ext. response is a denial. In such a situation they give you 30 days to leave the country failing which sec222g
will void your visa and you won't be able to enter again on that visa.
