B2 Extension Filed decision pending

Hi, we have filed B2 extension of stay for our parents 60 days prior to their i94 expiration. We have received receipt number but decision is still pending, what are the consequences of over staying while the decision is pending?

There are no consequences if they leave before a decision is made, or if their extension is approved while they are here. There are only consequences if they are denied and they are still here on the date of the denial. (Namely, they start accruing unlawful presence on the date of the denial, and their visa is void.)
