Need some advice.
Details:
I and my wife needed H1 and H4 stamping for renewal (I have been on H1 since 2005 in medical field).
- June 17 drop box documents dropped off
- June 19 status changed to issued for me and I collected passport couple days later
- June 21 wife (for H4) got email asking to set up interview for 221g, no other details provided as to why and her status online in CEAC is still as administrative processing.
However her passport has not been returned since then. We set an interview for her on July 8 that she will attend. However confused as passport not returned. I just emailed both at

[email protected]
enquiring abt passport.
1. Is there a different email I should send email to enquire
2. Is it common for passport not to be retuned (when dropped off for "DROPBOX" and subsequently getting 221g)?
3. Little surprised as my H1 was stamped but H4 got 221g.

Spouse and child have visa appointment at different locations
Hi all,
My wife has her H4 visa appointment in Kolkata later this month and kid (11yrs) received her H-4 visa appointments one week later in Chennai.
As my wife's appointment comes earlier, will they allow my wife to submit my child's application also when she goes for her appointment in Kolkata? That will save her the trouble of going to Chennai separately for my kid's appointment.
Please advise.

Thanks to immihelp and all users for posting their experiences on H1b interviews, which made sure to prepare in all aspects.
Below is my H1b interview experience in June 2019:
ME: Good Morning
VO: Good Morning
VO: So you work with XYZ company in Texas (I think he got confused with my information or this may be a trick question) ?
ME: No, I work with ABC company in California
VO: (after double checking) Oh ok, I see. Then who is in Texas ?
ME: My brother
VO: How long have you been working at ABC company for?
ME: For X yrs
VO: And is this your direct employer or you work at client location
ME: Direct employer
VO: Your VISAs are approved. You will get it in next few days since you opted for delivery. Have a safe flight back.
ME: Thank you. Have a good day.

Dropbox - Called for interview with Blue Slip
Hi All,
I would like to share my experience , I hope it will be helpful for some one in this forum.
My case is drop box.
June 12th - Did Dropbox in Chennai
June 19th - Status changed to Administrative processing
June 21st - Got passport with Blue Slips 221g with out visa
Documents Requested via 221g blue slip

Don't worry if you did a drop box and called for interview with blue slip , just carry all the documents and attend interview , what I observed is 90% of the people are called for in person interview if you do a drop box now a days.

h4 visa approved but in ceac shows as ' administartive processing'
I am in US . My wife and my 6 months old kid is in INDIA.
My wife attended the H4 visa interview on 18-Jun-19 in chennai consulate , she did not take the kid with her instead she carried my kid passport, interview went for 2-3 mins and VO officer said that the Visa is approved.
Next day 19-Jun-19 when my wife checked the status of application in CEAC website, it showed as 'Administrative Processing' for my wife and for my kid it was issued. We have received the visa stamped passport for my kid , but for my wife it is still showing as 'Administrative Processing' and the last update date as same interview date 18-Jun-19.
Could anyone let me know the possible reason behind as it is already been 10 days.
If anyone had encountered the same experience.

Question - 221(g) blue slip given but passport retained due to passport damage

Long time lurker here, first time poster. I got a lot of useful information from this website and all of your posts! Currently in a situation now.
I had my consulate interview today at Chennai. The VO asked me about what I do, where I work, my annual salary and what my role entails, in that order. No documents were requested.
She said that she needed to do some further administrative processing. She also looked at my passport again and tbh, it is not in pristine condition. The lamination had come out of the bottom right corner due to wear and tear. She said that I should submit a new passport since this was damaged. She kept the passport and gave me the blue 221(g) form with 2 checkboxes ticked: one for further administrative processing and one for submitting a new passport.
These are my questions:
1. As the consulate has kept the passport, how would I apply for a new passport... Will they send it back in a few days after which I can apply for a re-issue of the damaged passport ?
2. Does it mean the visa has been approved ?
3. If the answer to 1 is yes, then if I submit the new passport with the 221(g), do I have to do anything else aside from further waiting? is there a way to track any of this?

I have two questions.
Initially, I was planning to visit India in August and I was eligible for Dropbox and hence paid fees and got Dropbox confirmation.
Due to work schedules, I had to postpone my trip and planning to reschedule for December. And I am not eligible for Dropbox if it's December.
1) Can I use same pay receipt (for Dropbox) and reschedule my visa interview in December ??
2) When I try to book December slot I can see everything from October is unavailable. What does this mean ?? No slots available or they didn't open Window from October to the public to make reservations.

Hi All,
I have recently booked my US Visa appointment dates from my company in chennai.
My Company's Immigration team updated the incorrect Passport number for my spouse.,
On reaching back to correct them, My Immigration team said "You can get that corrected/updated during your Bio-Metric appointment"
Does anyone gone through such Scenario ? If so what is the experience ?
Is that Bio-Metric team permissible to change the passport number ?
