OCI - How long from Document Printed to finish
Hello folks,

I applied for OCI in February (ack data Deb 27). Mine is still under process, and Document Printing status just went to "Processed" on May 29. It is still the same today, no dispatch date is being shown.

How long does it take from Document Printed to end of process (receiving the passport with U visa)?

CKGS Does not accept Pre-Paid return by FEDEX

Anyone has more info. on this. When I applied for OCI back in 2/10/2015 I had sent in a FEDEX Pre-Paid label with envelope as required by CKGS. My application had no issue and CKGS now has my passports and OCI back from SF consular. I just called CKGS 516-206-1483 and one of their rep is saying that CKGS has stopped FEDEX service for returning the documents including passports/OCI/VISA. Now he is telling me that I need to buy and send ONLY USPS or UPS label or pay another $15 to them to purchase the courier service from UPS or USPS.

I just went to these web pages at CKGS and it still says that they use FEDEX service.

http://www.in.ckgs.us/general-information/value-added-services.shtml

http://www.in.ckgs.us/VPOOnline/StartPage.aspx?courierservice=/g5KlIShEC0=

Has anyone ran to this where you had to pay again to procure return mail by UPS or USPS and throw away the FEDEX envelope which you already paid ?

Nick

OCI FACTS EXPLAINED
FACTS ABOUT OCI APPLICATION..
When the local Indian consulate receive the OCI application. OCI Cell of the consulate checks the documents, photos and finger prints (in case of a minor), as per the OCI requirement under Indian Citizenship act and provide INITIAL APROVAL.
Once the INITIAL APROVAL Is awarded by the Indian Consulate the OCI application is then sent to OCI Cell at NDCC-II Building, Jai Singh Road Delhi ELETCRONICALLY….YES ONLY ELECTRONICALY..
OCI CELL in Delhi receives it ELECTRONICALLY and the date they receive it is called the ACKNOWLEDGEMENT DATE. This is when you start seeing PRITING STATUS on Government website as
“UNDER PROCESS”. If you can see the acknowledgement date on government website. REST ASSURED THE APPLICATION IS IN DELHI NOW ON…..GAME STARTS HERE
OCI CELL CAN NOT APPROVE THE OCI UNTIL VARIOUS SECURITY AGENCIES PROVIDE THEIR CLEARANCES: OCI Cell in Delhi sent the clearances to IB, RAW, Local Police, NOC , AT NCRB DELHI ETC….
IF YOUR PERMANENT ADDRESS IN THE FORM IS FROM DELHI CHANCES ARE THAT YOUR CLEARANCE WILL BE COMMUNICATED TO OCI CELL FASTERS AND YOU MAY GET THEIR APPROVAL FASTER.
If your PERMANET ADDRESS IS OF a remote village in Kerala itS obvious that some of the clearances by local police may take longer than usual.
IT TAKES APPORXIMATELY 30 DAYS FOR THESE SECURITY CLEARANCES TO ARRIVE OCI IN CELL UNDER NORMAL CIRCUMSTANCES ( NO ADVERSE CRINIMAL HISTORY, no link with countries on the radar i.e Pakistan, Bangladesh, Afganistan etc….for example: a couple having one partner from the country on radar, any linkage with countries on the radar)
IF YOU ARE NOT A VERY CLOSE RELATIVE OF A MINISTER OR A HIGH RANKING BUREACRAT IN MHA, MEA OR MOIA PLEASE DO NOT BOTHER CALLING EMBASSY, OCI CELL BEFORE AT LEAST 30 DAYS OF THE “ACKNOWLEDGEMENT DATE”
IT SIMPLY WON’T HELP.
Please give them at least 30 days after the acknowledgment date for status update.
IN CERTAIN CASES IF AN APPLICANT KEEP ON BOTHERING OCI CELL, OR VISITING OCI CELL BEFORE THESE 30 DAYS, IT RAISES CONCERNS FOR SECUSIRY CLEARANCE AGENCIES AND THEY MAY TAKE LONGER TO SEE YOUR ANXIETY IN GETTING IT FASTER.
Even if you know some high ranking official, your application will still go through security clearances(i.e IB and RAW clearance). They can only help you in moving the clearance papers faster between the agencies.
WHEN THE OCI CELL GETS THE OKAY SECURITY CLEARANCE FROM ALL THE AGENCIES…

YOU ARE AWARDED THE OCI NUMBER.
Now you start to see the OCI number starting with a letter on government website (i.e. A **** **** *).
Miraculously, you start to see extra lines on the government website, document printing status, document mailed to indian mission, received at indian mission etc….
They print the U sticker and sends them to the Indian Consulate usually it takes 2-3 days for them to dispatch the documents.
Then few days for the transit from delhi to consulate.
Then depending on the workload of the local consulate you get to the match up stage.
YOU KNOW WHAT HAPPENS NEXT VERY WEL.
NOTE: (1) MR SHETTY IN DELHI CAN NOT HELP YOU ISSUE THE OCI FASTER. SO DON’T BOTHER HIM OR ASK HIM FOR FAST PROCESSING. His teams job is more of a technological support to OCI.
You can E mail him if you have issue with government website or status issue, he will just email you the screen shot of the government screen and tell you the status. His screen shot are little more detailed than what we see on the government site.
 (2) NEVER WRITE ANY E MAIL OR MAKE PHONE CALL TO LOCAL CONSULATE WITH A COMPLAINING TONE ABOUT A STAFF MEMBER. IT JUST WONT HELP YOU AND WILL MAKE THINGS A LITTLE WORSE FOR YOU.
(3) IF YOUR EMERGENCY IS GENUINE, PLEASE E MAIL THE GENRAL ENQUIRY EMAIL AND CC THE DEPUTY CONSULAR GENERAL ON THE E MAIL. THE CONULATE GENERAL IS USUALLY TOO BUSY TO LOOK AT THIS KIND OF ISSUE. DCG IS INCHARGE OF ALL CONSULAR AFFAIRS.

IF IT HAS TAKEN OVER 3 MONTHS THEN YOU HAVE A GROUND TO CONTACT CONSULAR GENERAL DIRECTLY.

GOOD LUCK

Lack of resolution on OCI: Dealing with agency of Indian Govt
Initially we were impressed with CKG for their speed related to OCI process. Ass the application was applied on 30th March 2015, we got the confirmation on 14th May 2015, that OCI was approved and the cards have been sent to Embassy/Consulate. However inspite of at least three reminders and a few calls, we have not heard anything since 14th may 2015. It is more than 17 days and it does not take that long for OCI card to reach from India to US. It should have been at best 7 elapsed days.
Worst is that there is no information whatsoever with anyone.... Whom to call? CKG explains their inability to do anything as it appears that the issue is with Embassy/Consulate... In any case, if CKG is mandated with resolving issues, they should have better control over the process. As usual, dealing with Indian Govt agencies is not a pleasant experience.
Our Tracking numbers are as follows: usaw00f29n15, usaw00f28n15 & usaw0102bn15
Any quick help in this matter would be appreciated as we are leaving for India on 18th June and I believe that we need to give our passports to CKG for a few days before they can hand over OCI to us.
We are also reachable on 9374262526.

OCI still under process after over 2.5 months SFO
This entire process has been absurd, my OCI application was acknowledged by the SF Consulate on March 12, 2015 and it is now June 1, 2015 and nothing has changed, it is still showing as under process. I have reached out to the consulate over 10 times with emails and phone calls but not a single response. I have contacted Erlina at CKGS and she has reached out to the consulate, they have acknowledged the escalation but no response in over a week now. I reached out to Mr. Shetty in Delhi and he informs me that only the consulate has the ability to handle this. I'm a bit at loss of what to do or who else to contact. Can anyone assist or provide contact information for someone who could assist at the consulate? Thanks
