N400 - Stuck in Name Check
Hi,

I applied for the Citizenship last August and got the Receipt Date of Aug 24, 2006. Finished Finger Printing on September 25, 2006. But till now, I didnt get the interview letter/date, so I took 2 info pass appointment, one in April 2007 and the other in July 2007, both the times the officer said that my application is stuck in Name Check with the FBI. When I asked the officer, how long it would take for the Name Check to clear, he said he has no idea about that. Its been a year now and I am worried. Is anyone in the same situation and can anyone advise on how to proceed from here, should we go to the Senator/Congressman to request them to get an answer from FBI about my Name check status?

Please help.

Thanks,
Priya

How Easy to Pass
Based on the grammar used in the postings here for the people that passed I would have to judge that becoming a Citizen is mighty easy!

Citizenship
I finally applied for my citizenship in Late april 2007. I received my letter for fingerprinting in May 2007. Since I live in the suburb of Dallas, I had to go for fingerprinting to Fort Worth. I arrived a little early, not sure what to expect . I was the only one allowed to go in. The Finger printing was a smooth process,I was done in an hour. My interview is in Dallas on August 9, 2007. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Citizen on 19th
We applied on Jan 18th and had interview on June 19th at Newark, NJ office. The appointment was at 9:40 AM but we were called only at 11:40. The officer asked us (I am my wife were interviewed by different persons at different times) 6-8 questions on civics and asked us write a simple English sentence and once we wrote this our citizenship was approved. Had the oath on the same day at 1:30 and we become citizens by 2:00 p.m. They did not ask us for any documents or for the Selective Service? doc.
