OCI application fees in the USA depend on the service requested. The total may include a consular fee, an Indian Community Welfare Fund (ICWF) fee, the VFS Global OCI service charge, and payment or mailing charges.

Some jurisdictions may charge a $15.90 VFS service fee instead of the $19.00 fee for reissue or certain miscellaneous services.
A separate fee is required for each applicant and cannot be waived. Rejected or dishonored payments may lead to added charges or cancellation of the service.
Important PIO travel warning: PIO cards are no longer valid for travel to India as of December, 2023. PIO cardholders must complete the PIO to OCI conversion process or obtain another valid Indian travel document before purchasing flights.
Application in the USA
Non-U.S. citizens applying in the United States must add $20 to the listed fees. Applicants who have lived in the United States for less than two years must pay a $20 reference fee.
Applicants should pay through the VFS Global portal. Debit and credit card payments have a 3.75% convenience charge. Applicants who pay online must include the original payment receipt with the required documents.
Money orders, banker’s checks, and cashier’s checks must be payable to VFS Services (USA) Inc. Personal checks are not accepted. Applicants paying by money order should write the tracking number or web reference number on the back.
Biometric fingerprinting costs $0.50, while fingerprinting with facial biometrics costs $1.00. Biometrics are not required in every case.
The VFS Global service charge is nonrefundable. Applicants who withdraw during processing may receive the consular fee minus $25. No refund is available after the original passport submission.
Application in India
A fresh OCI application costs ₹15,000 per applicant. Adult PIO cardholders must pay ₹1,400, while minor PIO cardholders must pay ₹8,000. Payment must be made by demand draft in favor of Pay and Accounts Officer (Secretariat), Ministry of Home Affairs, payable in New Delhi.
Applicants must also submit a copy of a valid Indian visa or residential permit.
